George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich In The Ultimate Spy Vs Moron Movie, Burn After Reading

Burn After Reading is wildly funny, but it's also very sly and subversive as a piece of filmmaking, and is a spoof of the American way of stupidity, narcissism and paranoia, a shaggy-dog tale set in the spy-vs-moron style. It stars George Glooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, and Francis McDormand.

Clooney has never played it goofier than he does here as Harry, who has been virtually castrated by his successful career woman wife (Elizabeth Marvel), who is always traveling overseas to promote her children's books. All the while, Clooney's character isn t sure what foods he s allergic to and keeps teetering noisily on the verge of anaphylactic shock with phlem. However, this does not stop Clooney from screwing Malkovich s wife, and for that matter any other woman he can lure into his sex dungeon whenever his own wife is out of town.

Brad Pitt plays Chad Feldheimer, a clueless gym employee with a bizarre streaked hairdo and a toned body continuously in motion. Brad Pitt adds another fantastically quirky character to his resume as a meathead personal trainer and the rest of the cast is wonderful as well. John Malkovich is hilarious and Tilda Swinton plays Malkovich's wife with heartless acidity that is as funny as it is cruel.

Malkovich is a CIA agent about to be demoted to another branch of the government, with lower security clearance, because of his alcoholism. When his memoirs accidentally falls into the hands of two unwise Washington, D.C. morons when a CD copy of the rough draft ends up on the locker room floor of the Hardbodies fitness center, employees

Frances McDormand basically reprises her role from "Fargo" as a clueless yet determined woman, but the role is not tired.

Interestingly and perhaps ironically, in Burn After Reading the civilians engage in subterfuge with more passion, but no more success, than the so-called professionals. But if you didn't mind the hit or miss mania of The Hudsucker Proxy, or just find everything these actors do to be fascinating, you'll easily enjoy Burn After Reading.

Burn After Reading is that rare satirical thriller--a devilish, delicious, diabolically dark, irreverent and insanely funny movie that could only have come from the minds of Joel and Ethan Coen.

However, along with the popularity of the movie came a renewed interest in memorabilia and autographs as collectibles and gifts. So much so that many stores have sold out of the increasingly harder to find items. Not that this is the first time a movie has spawned greater interest in memorabilia and autographs. Movies like The Lord Of The Rings and Pirates Of The Caribbean were great hits at the boxoffice as well as the memorabilia shops. However, the recently released Burn After Reading as well as Get Smart and Sex In The City were not in the same league or category as Lord of the Rings or Pirates but have still created a renewed excitement in memorabilia for collectors and as gifts.

One collector who is well-known in memorabilia collector circles is John White. Who has a very fine collection of movie memorabilia that is not the largest but certainly one of the most interesting since every piece is carefully selected to fit into the collection. His collection is made up of small groups of items. Each group will have a piece of memorabilia from a movie like the new Speed Racer and includes an autograph from numerous actors from the show in a small framed display. In working the collection in this manner he has kept the cost down while quickly building it into a true pleasurable treasure. His most recent focus is on obtaining pieces from both Burn After Reading and Righteous Kill and he is moving quickly to obtain them before the best pieces are bought out.

While there is a not really a bad time to start collecting or giving collectibles as gifts, this time of lowered prices and increase interest makes it a perfect time.

Burn After Reading is that rare satirical thriller--a devilish, delicious, diabolically dark, irreverent and insanely funny movie that could only have come from the minds of Joel and Ethan Coen. Whom audiences can rely on for snappy acting, hilarious dialogue and off-putting amounts of bloodshed, but no one anticipated the increase in interest in memorabilia and autographs the movie generated.

Are You Looking To Convert Your Old Movies To DVD Format?

With all the incredible technologies readily available to us, long gone are the old ways of storing our family movies and films! Nowadays you can quickly and easily get your important movies transferred to DVD format and it will make all your movies look even better quality wise! The equipment used will give your film a high resolution digital transfer with incredible results!

The transferring process is a smart and practical choice to make. I think by now we all know how much DVDs are superior to video tapes and film which can deteriorate with time. DVDs are much more reliable not to mention easier to store.

Another amazing attribute to this sort of technology is that you can actually add your favorite music to play along with the movie. For example, if the film was made back in the Otis Redding days you can have his music playing in the background or any other music you like for that matter. These businesses also allow you to make requests for special effects that match the mood on the film.

Starting right now, go through all your old film and videos tapes and make notes on which ones you want to begin transferring first! Maybe you have a birthday or anniversary coming up and you want to give the guest of honor one of these DVDs, this would make a terrific gift that will last for many many years!

More often than not the places that offer these types of services in your area are more readily available online. Even if you take it to a local business, there's a big possibility that the "job" is sent out to the same business you will find online. Just be extra careful in making sure you choose a well-known company with good reviews which uses high quality transfer units.

Upon visiting some of these sites online you will also find an array of prices, you do not need to spend a large amount of money to get great quality, just do a little research and you will ultimately find a business that fits your budget plus your expectations. There are some companies out there that will make your film look better than you ever imagined. So don't risk losing your precious moments when you can simply get them restored and transferred, if you use these services you will not regret it especially years from now when you pull out your DVDs to share with your future generation and they can enjoy a few laughs.

Sullivan's Travels and Veronica Lake and the Famous Peekaboo Coif

Veronica Lake is known for her peekaboo coif and mysterious allure in black and white film, but in the 1941 comedy Sullian's Travels, Lake shows that not only is she beautiful and worthy of vintage pin up posters fame, but can be satirical as well. Even the title, Sullivan's Travels, is a satire, playing on the title of the satirical self-examination journey Gulliver's Travels, by Jonathan Swift. Of course, in her first leading lady role in a film, Lake becomes the personification of the vintage pin up posters image that she would eventually become famous for.

The satire focuses on John L. Sullivan, a director struggling to find his way in Hollywood and make a socially conscious and revelant film for the masses, but eventually discovers that making a comedy would be more valuable to the decaying soceity surrounding him. He is just coming off the very profitable, but morally reprehensible comedies, and is hungry for a moral compass to direct. He creates the idea for a movie entitled O Brother, Where Art Thou? (The 2000 Cohen Brothers hit of the same name is a homage to the satirical movie Sullivan's Travel), as an exploration of the downtrodden. However, Sullivan's ideas are dismissed by his studio, and he refuses to give in to do yet another droll comedy.

Dressing like a homeless person, Sullivan sets out to discover just how the hobos live, to gain information and research for his latest film project. Yet, through a serious of misseps, Sullivan can never find the trouble and distuition he is aiming for, and ends right back in Hollywood. In one event, he meets a young actress, played by vintage pin up posters Girl Lake, and she becomes his companion in his misadventuress into downtroddenness.

Yet, Sullivan still hasn't experience trouble. Eventually he gives in and returns to Hollywood, where his studio publicly announces his travels. Good hearted Sullivan returns to the homeless area that welcomed him weeks before, and hands out 5 dollar bills to the men, as a thank you, only to finally receive the trouble he had been longing for. A bum decides to accoste Sullivan when they are alone and steal the money. However, the bum throws Sullivan on a boxcar, while standing on another set of train tracks. The bum is killed by an oncoming car, wearing the very shoes he had stolen off Sullivan. When Sullivan wakes up, he discovers that he has been murdered in the railway station. The only person who can correctly identify him is the Girl who joined him on his travels.

Sullivan's Travels explores the notino that more good can come from laughter than drama. Though a comedy, Veronica Lake's performance of The Girl garnered her higher status as a vintage pin up posters girl, with her long blonde hair, which coyly hung over her right eye. She showed that a lady can be funny, while being mysterious and sexy.

By 1990, Sullivan's Travel was finally received by the National Film Registry in the Library of Congress as a film for preservation, because of it cultural significance, a slice of irony since the film is about the struggle to find cultural significance in film.

Steps On Converting Your Old Movies To DVD Form

Technology is always moving, and always updating. In most cases the processes you used to not be able to do or that weren't even heard of way back when, can easily be done now with the right mechanics, the right software, and the right products. Not only can you do the things you couldn't do in the past but you can surpass your wildest dreams! I mean who knew even 10 years ago we would have able to actually buy a laptop that doesn't weigh as much as a bowling ball! Or that you could actually watch over your home or business remotely from your computer? Well here's another great discovery, did you know that there are actual people or rather businesses that can turn your old movies (have it be film or otherwise) into DVD format? It's true!

I have personally tried services such as these, and I know of a few people in my family that have had it done, and really its worth the few bucks it costs to transfer over. I can't even begin to explain how much happier I am with these DVDs than I was with those old film reels! This is just one of those things you have to try to believe it! Take it from me, you really won't be disappointed! First off you have the quality. We all know by now that DVD, Bluray, and HD give you an incredible vision of quality when it comes to the "graphics", whereas films? Not so much. You know you have all those cosmetic imperfections such as blotches and spots. Some people might like that "old school" look, but for me I want all my films to be updated and be as high quality as possible!

Secondly this is a really easy process, especially if you deal with a company that has been doing this for a while. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying new business are going to screw your film up, I'm just saying DO your research! Go online and look for reviews, see what people say about various sites, various prices, customer service, ease of the process, etc.

And lastly this process is incredibly practical. Ya know that giant box you have sitting in your garage with all those dusty old film reels that you never know what to do with? Well now instead of having a giant box with tons of reels, you can have a couple really nice compact DVDs! Now you can actually throw that box out!

Transfering Your Old Movies To DVD Just Got A Whole Lot Easier!

Over the years, most all families accumulate a huge amount of videos of their kids, so how can you transfer your old films and videos to something a little more updated? There are actually websites online that specialize in making your old movies into quality DVDs! They specialize in transferring home movies on 8mm film to video, super 8mm film conversions and 16mm films to DVD. I actually tried this awhile back because our attic had tons of boxes full of old movies from when I was a child, so I made a choice to try it out. I gotta say not only was it quick and easy but it's also a really convenient way to save some extra space! Compared to DVDs, film reels can become quite bulky and require a lot of space! Another incredible attribute was that my movies looked 10 times better than they did on film!

Most of these businesses, the good ones anyway, take the time to process, inspect, repair, clean, and lubricate every single inch by hand! You would be absolutely amazed by the superior quality of the older vintage 8mm/16mm or Super8mm films that we had restored. The mere quality is unbelievable and really isn't that the most important thing? Most of these old film reels have a lot of blemishes, spotting, and a lot of other cosmetic problems. However, if you put your old movies on new DVDs you won't have any of these problems. Technology is constantly moving at the speed of light! Take advantage of this technology and use it in your favor! This is absolutely something you will be more than happy with! Here is an example price list of what you can expect:

8mm / Super8mm / 16mm Film

Transferred to DVD without editing or music - 10 cents per foot

Transferred directly to your Hard Drive - 10 Cents per foot

8mm / Super8mm / 16mm Film

Transferred to DVD Including

Complete Digital Restoration - 15 Cents per foot

VHS and 8mm Video Tapes

Transferred to DVD - only $9.95 per tape

If you look in the phone book you will find a lot of these types of businesses, but a lot of the time the same business you see offline are the same ones you would deal with online anyway. For me it's all about quality and convenience, you already have the quality down pat, so utilize everything you can to make it easier and quicker to transfer your movies now!

Halloween Gifts Are Scary Fun For Friends And Sweethearts.

Halloween Gifts are becoming more popular each year that there is no limit to what you can find and with a little luck it won't be all paper witches and black cats.

There are numerous options to choose from for Halloween gifts. Although the gifts would naturally have a horror touch to them they don't have to be bloody or disgusting. For adults, creepy and bloodcurdling novels and gripping terror tales would be perfect or a stack of horror-movies. People are even buying Halloween Gift Baskets or making themselves. One such person is Alex Fleming. Who bought some scary DVD's and then added autographed photos from many of the actors in the films and gave them as an impromptu gift set.
Other gift items that make for great Halloween Day gifts are personalized shirts, personalized photo frames, and music CD's. Furthermore, people with a sweetheart are looking for a good Halloween gift are passing over the gruesome and gory in favor of magic and mystery and appealing to their sweetheart's spiritual side.

There are DVD Box Sets that make excellent gifts. The Masters of Horror Season One Box Set. The set includes 14 discs and features some of the greatest people from the horror world including Clive Barker, John Carpenter, Robert Englund. They have also have special features are excellent; like commentaries, interviews, and behind the scenes information.

Another Box Set this year is the complete Exorcist series. The set features 6 DVD's; the original Exorcist film, the "Version You've Never Seen", Part 2, The Heretic, Part 3, The Beginning, and Dominion. They also feature loads of bonus features.

Rick Turner of Bloody Days gifts suggests putting together a selection of films in the same genre like a set of slasher films. Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Chucky, and Friday the Thirteenth with photos or memorabilia from each movie, like action figures or autographed pictures or cards work well.

However, there is a number of new or re-released movies available right now that are getting a great deal of attention. Like Pulse 2: Afterlife, where the world has been reshaped by the invasion of ghosts via the wireless internet and cities are deserted. Only a few remaining humans destroy anything electrical in order to avoid a confrontation with the soulless ghosts that now wander the planet. Interestingly most of the ghosts are doomed to a repetitive loop of something they did while they were still humans like reliving their suicide or some horrible event. However, there are ghosts that do not even know they are dead and continue to haunt their homes, wrapped in fear that their souls will soon be torn from them.

Another great gift is the newly restored and re-mastered Night of the Living Dead. The 1968 classic film that started it all has been completely restored and re-mastered so that every great horrific nuance of the film can be clearly seen. The dead come back to life and eat the living while a group of survivors barricade themselves inside a rural house in an attempt to survive the night. Outside are hordes of relentless, shambling zombies who can only be killed by a blow to the head.

Putting these two films with a couple other survival horror type films, like Resident Evil or the new George Romero film, Diary of the Dead, along with some autographs, action figures, or photographs would be a perfect gift for survival horror fans. Just don't forget the candy.
