Superheroes Coming To A Theatre Near You

The movie industry continues to churn out comic books into movies with even more comic book heroes and villains being adapted to the full screen. Not only is it very popular but it's become profitable for Hollywood. Unlike the past when super hero movies were relegated to direct to video productions, today, the comic book industry along with super star producers are developing big budget films.

The main reason for all the super hero movies are due to the large profit margin at the box office. While it does cost quite a bit of money to produce comic book characters for the large screen, the movie industry benefits in a big way but so does the comic book industry. These blockbuster comic book movies usually cast well known actors and have results have been impressive.

The radio, television and movie industries have had a love affair with comic book heroes since Superman and Spiderman were created. Before television and movies there was the radio and it allowed comic books to leap out of their pages and into the living room. Radio gave way to television which created an even more special bond between super heroes and their fans. What the television series lacked in special effects, cartoons picked up the slack.

Soon radio and television were phased out for movies. Over time, technology enhanced special effects which gave super heroes their super abilities. Super heroes could now fly, jump higher, run faster and have the capability to destroy everything in their path.

By the mid seventies the first big comic book super hero blockbuster arrived. When Clark Kent took off his suit and became Superman, the excitement to see the Superman movie was contagious. The movie industry was blown away at the amount of money made at the box office. The comic book industry also took notice and began development and negotiations with major Hollywood studios, d executives, and producers for other super hero projects.

After Superman came a few sequels each drawing more and more people to the box office. The eighties brought us Batman which was a creative masterpiece. The success of the original Batman movie led to more Batman sequels and a prequel as well. Soon major movie studios developed even more comic book super hero movies with The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Punisher, Iron Man and Daredevil all hitting the big screen.

There is no end in sight to how many comic book super heroes Hollywood will develop into big budget movies. There are endless number of stories that can be derived from past comic book stories. Moreover, there's an and endless number of super heroes each with different powers and each with the ability to connect to a different person.
